Notable facts
To this day, the facility provides for the villagers and continues to be a vital attraction for the village of Ingleton, increasing footfall during the summer months, when visitors come to swim at the pool.
The original 1933 tank was larger and deeper and made from concrete. Its dimensions were 30m x 9m and the depth ranged from 0.5m to 3m. It was built by the people, for the people and was dug out and constructed by local volunteers, including striking miners. The pool originally had a three tiered diving tower in the deep end. JLE Construction and Co were involved with the construction phase of the project. The pool officially opened in August 1934. For a long time, Ingleton Swimming Club ran the facility for the benefit of the village.

The pool was modernised and reduced in size in 1974. At this time, the swimming club merged with the Ingleton Rural Community Association and the new umbrella organisiation registered as a charity. Ingleton Rural Community Association assumed ownership and Ingleton Swimming Club became a sub committee.

Current plans
To continue providing an accessible outdoor swimming facility for use by locals and visitors. Ingleton pool acts as a provision for local school swimming lessons. It is there to serve the community and attracts tourists to the village during the months it is open.
