A warm welcome to Chester City Baths
We are delighted to welcome a new member to Historic Pools of Britain. Like all historic pools it brings with it a fascinating social history and its own distinctive design. For this Grade II listed gem its architect, John Douglas, adopted a mock Tudor look befitting of this beautiful city.
Chester City Baths opened in 1901 and whilst it is still owned and supported by Chester City Council, it has been successfully run by Chester Swimming Association since 1977.
It has two pools, known as the Atlantic and Pacific, with the Atlantic including poolside spectator seating. The first floor once contained living quarters for the superintendent and matron.
