Description
An Art Deco, Olympic-sized lido filled with filtered sea water, heated to 29oC. Stonehaven Open Air Pool is one of a kind in the UK.

Situated by the sea, 15 miles south of Aberdeen, the pool is a focal point of Stonehaven’s summer and an asset to the town itself and the whole of Scotland, attracting visitors from far and wide.

Facilities
50m pool with a chute and a separate kids paddling pool, both heated and opened seasonally.
The lido has an on site café, sheltered sun terraces and plenty of car parking.
The facilities are wheelchair friendly and a hoist is available.

Notable facts
The 1980s and 90s saw a decline in numbers, seasons were cut to 8 weeks, and by the mid-1990s the pool was threatened with closure. This prompted the founding of a community group, The Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool, initially to lobby for its retention.

Current plans
The pool is owned by Aberdeenshire Council who operate the pool to the highest standards, whilst The Friends of Stonehaven Open Air Pool maintain, enhance and promote the pool.
There is live entertainment at the weekends. The timetable includes: chute and inflatable sessions, midnight swims with music, land swimming and quiet swims.
