Description
Opened on 27 June 1896 and a popular tourist destination ever since.
Situated on the edge of the River Medway, Gillingham from where water is pumped and filtered, as it has always been.
Much is unchanged from 1896 and the chlorinated-saltwater pool is not artificially heated.
Facilities
Within the enclosed pool area there is a 300 metre lazy river, toddler pool, six 25 metre lanes for swimming, elephant slides and water jets. Other facilities include changing areas, toilets, poolside showers, pool inflatable shop and poolside café.
Notable facts
It is the only remaining riverside salt-water pool in the country.
Current plans
The pool is open for the summer season. Dates for 2024 are Saturday 25 May until Sunday 1 September.
