Lighting up the Lido

Saltdean Lido’s name is once again up in lights with a reproduction of the historic signage unveiled; the original was created 84 years ago and was taken down during World War II to avoid being spotted by German aircrafts.

Chair of Saltdean Lido Community Interest Company (SLCIC) Deryck Chester says, “For me, it’s very evocative of the 1930s and it was designed to give people the experience of stepping on board an ocean liner.” What a sight to behold once more!

The lights switching on is a reminder that the project is now reaching its final stages.  Following work on the café, gym and library the building will be ready for a grand opening in the coming months.
