Creating a 90th birthday splash
Summer 2025 marks the 90th birthday of Droitwich Spa Lido and The Friends have an exciting programme of events underway. It was on 10 June 1935 that the much-loved lido was officially opened. The original art deco building still stands gracefully poolside, where a children’s wet play area with water cannons and fountains, sun terraces and Lido Café all add to the experience.
The celebrations will begin with a Synchronised Swimming Display, which will also see the launch of a Memory Book that will depict the history of the lido in photos and written recollections from local people. Throughout the summer, swimmers will be invited to take part in the Swim 90 Challenge with something for all ages and abilities to take part in. The final event will be an Open-air Cinema event showing Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl preceeded by a family swim.
