Celebrating 90 years of Peterborough Lido

Historic Pools of Britain is heading to Peterborough Lido for our next event, which will take place on Tuesday 23 June.  Everyone is welcome (members and non-members), with places bookable here.

We’ll be celebrating the 90th anniversary of this Grade II listed gem right at the height of the lido season – making it the perfect time to gather poolside in recognition of one of Britain’s finest open-air swimming pools.

Our day will begin with a look into the fascinating history of the lido, exploring its origins, place in the community, and architectural significance.  We’ll then hear from author Tom Fort, writer of Lido Land,  who will share insights into his work, reflecting on Britain’s enduring love affair with lidos.

We’re also delighted to be joined by Emma Pusill and Janet Wilkinson, co-authors of The Lido Guide, who will be updating us on the next edition of the publication and sharing exciting news for historic pools enthusiasts.

There will be time to explore the lido as part of a guided tour and to cool down with a relaxing swim.

Make a day of it for what promises to be a memorable occasion.
