Autumn event: Withington Baths

Our next HPB event takes us to Withington Baths on Thursday 26 September (10.30am to 3.00pm) where we will celebrate and explore how the community has managed to not only save this Edwardian pool complex, but bring back its soul.

An early supporter of Historic Pools of Britain, Withington Baths has shared details of every step of its work to help other communities learn from its experiences.  We’ve seen the activity swell from a grassroots campaign when the Baths was threatened with closure and a modern replacement, to milestone moments, such as the securing of National Lottery Heritage Funding.  With this phase of work complete and the space now functioning as a pool, gym, co-working space and café it’s time to find out more about the journey that has led to this moment.

Alongside hearing from the team at Withington Baths the programme of speakers includes: Kate Kendall from National Lottery Heritage Fund who will share funding opportunities, insights and advice; an update from Kate McGeevor, a trustee at Save Grange Lido; and finally HPB Ambassador, writer and broadcaster Simon Inglis will be taking us overseas to the historic pools he has visited on his travels.

There will be a tour of Withington Baths, time for a swim for those that want to and lunch is included.  To book your place please email Clare@historicpools.org.uk.

Pool members automatically receive two free places and individual membership comes with one free place – for each there is a small charge of £16 per person to cover lunch and refreshments throughout the day.  Extra member places are available to book at £30 per person (including lunch). Swimming is included.

Non-member places are open to anyone and cost £50 including lunch, refreshments and a swim.
